Swedish Championship Dragon Class 2011

1.

Rules

1.1

The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS).

1.2

All boats shall in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20 display advertising provided by the event organiser.

Competitors must wear personal flotation devices when the boat has left port, except for short-term replacement or adjustment of clothing or personal equipment. Wet suits and dry suits are not personal flotation devices. A boat that violates this rule may be warned or punished at the discretion of the Protest Committee.

2.

Eligibility requirements

2.1

To be entitled to participate in Riksidrottsförbundets championships, each competitor must comply with ISAF Regulation 19.
In order to obtain the title Swedish Champion (SM) the competitors must be a Swedish citizen or has resided in Sweden for at least six months the past twelve months before the competition starts.
At championships with several crew members, a majority of the crew (more than 50%) shall meet the rule regarding the title Swedish Champion. If so, the entire crew will receive the title Swedish Champion.

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 1,000,000 Euro per event or the equivalent.

2.3

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damageor personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

2.4

A crew member may not be substituted without a written permission from the race committee.

2.5

A boat or equipment may be inspected at any time for compliance with the class rules and sailing instructions. On the water, a boat can be instructed by a race committee measurer to proceed immediately to a designated area for inspection.

2.6

Substitution of damaged or lost equipment will not be allowed unless approved by the race committee.

3.

Entries

3.1

Advance entry shall be made not later than 2011.07.01 in the entry form on the event site.

3.2

The entry fee is 2.500 SEK and is paid to Sailing Båstad, bg 238-4436, not later than 2011.07.01.After this date the entry fee is 3.750 SEK

4.

Registration and measurement checks

4.1

Registration shall be made at the race office not later than Thursday Aug 4rd 11:00.

4.2

Measurement certificate shall be presented prior to racing.

5.

Sailing instruction

5.1

The sailing instructions will be handed out upon completion of the registration.

6.2

7 races are scheduled.

6.3

If 3 races or more are completed, no warning signals will be given after 15:00 hours on Saturday 6th.

7.

Racing format

7.1

The racing format is fleet-racing with all boats in one fleet.

8.

Racing area

8.1

The location of the racing area will be just outside the harbour of Båstad.

9.

The course

9.1

Windward-Leeward course with offset mark and gate will be sailed.

10.

Protest

10.1

Rule 44.1 is changed so that a boat that has broken a rule in part 2 shall make a one turn penalty instead of a two turn penalty.

10.2

Decisions of the protest committee will be final as provided in RRS 70.5.

11.

Scoring

11.1

The low point scoring system of RRS Appendix A will apply modified so that when four or fewer races have been completed, a boat´s series score will be the total of her race scores.

11.2

If five races or more are completed, the worst score will be deducted.

11.3

Three races shall be completed in order to award the Swedish Championship.

12.

Prizes

12.1

Championship medals in Gold, Silver and Bronze for first, second and third place.
The winner will be awarded Swedish Champion Dragon class 2011.
